FDOT to share changes for Hendricks Avenue project

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is hosting a public meeting next week to discuss the proposed resurfacing and safety improvements project for State Road 13 (San Jose Boulevard/Hendricks Avenue), from Cornell Road to San Marco Boulevard in Jacksonville.
The meeting will be held Monday, May 16, at the FDOT Jacksonville Urban Office Training Center located at 2198 Edison Avenue. It will start with an informal “open house” from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with FDOT representatives available to provide project information and answer questions. At 6:30 p.m., FDOT will open the meeting for public comments. There will be no formal presentation.

An initial meeting was held in January to seek feedback on the project, specifically the removal of on-street parking and the addition of bicycle lanes. Based on public input from that meeting changes were made to the proposed design plans. The purpose of Monday’s meeting is to present the changes and gather citizen input.

The estimated project cost for the 3-mile long project is $5.4 million and the estimated year-long project is scheduled to start in the spring of 2017.

Public participation is sought without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability or family status. For more information, contact FDOT toll-free at 800-749-2967. Comments can be sent to FDOT project manager at Craig.Teal@dot.state.fl.us.
