Seminoles to Open 2019 Season in Jax?

Rick Catlett from the Jacksonville Sports Council expects Florida State to open the 2019 football season at Everbank Field.
The Jacksonville Sports Council has been working for years attempting to host another neutral site Florida State football game at Everbank Field.  A deal may finally be imminent.

Rick Catlett, President and CEO of the Council, joined 1010XL Jax Sports Radio Wednesday, indicating that he expects the Noles to open the 2019 season in Jacksonville.

“I think you can look for Labor Day 2019 to see the Seminoles play here,” Catlett told hosts Frank Frangie and Rick Ballou.  “Clearly, the team we want to have play here is Florida State.  We have a great relationship with Florida State people.  I think you’ll see in the next 6 months an announcement about having a Florida State neutral site game.”

The Seminoles last played in Jacksonville at the Gator Bowl on January 1, 2010 – Bobby Bowden’s last game as head coach.  FSU’s last regular season game in Jacksonville came on September 29, 2007, a 21-14 victory over Alabama.
