The Skyway is a significant community asset and taxpayer investment that serves as the Downtown transit circulator. The Skyway carries approximately 5,000 passenger trips on an average weekday. The decision about the future of the system deserves careful assessment, evaluation and community input.

Today, the vehicles are beyond their mid-life and past due for rehabilitation. The Skyway technology is out of date, making parts difficult to find, and the proprietary equipment limits vendor market. Over the next 5 to 15 years, JTA will need to make a significant investment to the vehicles, operating system, and structures to ensure safe and reliable service. Because of this, it is important to consider the future path of the Skyway system.
