Beaches Construction Update - Summer 2015

Here's an update on a few new business openings and construction projects currently underway in the Jacksonville-Neptune-Atlantic Beaches area.
1. Ocean Terrace

Richmond America is developing a 59 home project called Ocean Terrace at 440 South Beach Parkway.

The homes being built range from 2,250 t0 3,050 square feet and start in the $400,000s.

2. River Regional Animal Emergency and Referral Center

River Regional Animal Emergency and Referral Center opened on July 22, 2015 at 301 Jacksonville Drive.

3. The Beaches Regional Library

The Beaches Regional Library at 600 3rd Street in Neptune Beach is currently being renovated.

4. JAX Refrigeration, Inc.

Construction continues on a new office building for JAX Refrigeration at 1529 South 3rd Street.

5.603 2nd Street South

ShayCore Enterprises is wrapping up construction of a few homes on a small infill site at 6th Avenue South and 2nd Street South.

6. Channelside Townhomes

SH Design Homebuilders, based in Jacksonville Beach, is building 30 townhomes with boat slips on the former Lighthouse Grille site — which is south of Beach Boulevard on Hopson Road, on the east side of the Intracoastal Waterway.

7. Sea Chasers Restaurant

Sea Chasers Restaurant is under construction at 831 First Street North in Jacksonville Beach.

8. Town Center Restaurant/Retail/Office

Southcoast Beaches, LLC. is constructing a new mixed-use structure at 241 Atlantic Boulevard, in the Beaches Town Center.

9. Graffiti Junktion American Burger Bar

Graffiti Junktion, an Orlando 'gourmet craft burger' restaurant, is opening its first North Florida restaurant at 265 Fifth Avenue. The 160-seat restaurant was originally anticipated to open in 2014. According to their website, Graffiti Junktion serves 100% Angus Beef Burgers that are hormone & anitibiotic free, with just about any topping one could want. Their menu selections range from award-winning Nachos, wings and wraps to scrumptious salads and zucchini fries! All fresh ~ never frozen.

10. Pablo Towers Addition

A 22,000 square foot three story addition is nearing completion at Pablo Towers. The new building will include a 15-bed assisted living facility, a commercial kitchen, and activities/dining room space.

11. ACE Hardware Penman Plaza

ACE Hardware recently opened a new location on a former landfill site adjacent to Penman Plaza. A second former landfill parcel is currently in negotiations for future redevelopment.

12. ULTA Beauty

ULTA is opening a new store at Jacksonville Beach's South Beach Regional shopping center.

13. 700 Second Street North

Construction is nearing completion on a row of single family infill residences on the 700 block of Second Street North.

14. Native Sun Natural Foods Market

Construction continues on Native Sun Natural Foods Market's third location. Located at the corner of 3rd Street and 15th Avenue North, the store is expected to open on September 4, 2015 and bring over 50 jobs to the area. 15. 7North

The former post office in Jacksonville Beach on the corner of 3rd street and 7th Avenue North, will soon become a facility that will provide several services to people who live at the beach called 7North. Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) will relocate its thrift store from its current location on Shetter Avenue in Jacksonville Beach to 7North.  As a retail store, BEAM Thrift offers clothing and household items at a very low cost to shoppers and provides goods at no cost to those who come to BEAM through partner referrals.

16. 201 Mayport

Beaches Habitat for Humanity is in the process of developing 201 Mayport at the Atlantic Boulevard/Mayport Road interchange. This project preserves property that will provide nearly 80 fee-simple homes to qualified families in what is becoming a highly competitive and restrictive beaches real estate market. The development will include attached duplex, triplex and quadruplex homes that will be conveyed fee-simple to each homeowner.

17. Bellinger Shipyards

Land clearing efforts are underway for a waterfront condominium development on the former site of Bellinger Shipyards on Atlantic Boulevard, adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway. Jacksonville Intracoastal LLC plans to build a development featuring 590 multifamily units, a 650-slip marina and potentially 60,000 square feet of office and/or retail space.
