Mike Field Selected to 2014 Vanguard Class

For a second consecutive year, a member of the Metro Jacksonville and Transform Jax community has been selected by Next City to be a part of their Vanguard Class. Mike Field, the mastermind behind Jax Truckies and Jax Cash Mob and a co-organizer of Metro Jacksonville's Pub Crawls has been selected by Next City to be a part of their 2014 Vanguard Class. Next City is a non-profit media organization dedicated to connecting cities and informing the people who work to improve them.
Next City provides daily online coverage of public policy and current affairs from an urbanist perspective.  Each year, Next City selects 40 people under 40 to their Vanguard Class who have demonstrated their ability to have an impact on their city or the national dialogue about urban issues and bring them together for an inspiring series of presentations, workshops, tours and other activities. The 2014 Vanguard class, along with Vanguard alumni, will meet in Chattanooga next month for workshops, local tours and an “unconference” to collectively learn and think about how to improve our cities. The event is made possible with support from the Lyndhurst Foundation, the Benwood Foundation and the Footprint Foundation, and it is being curated with the help of a host committee made up of local civic innovators. Outside of Chattanooga, this year's host city, Mike Field was one of two people in the Southern United States to be selected to this year's Vanguard Class.  The 2013 conference was held in Cleveland, OH. Metro Jacksonville and Transform Jax's Ennis Davis is a member of that Vanguard Class.
