"Our specialty is meat: fresh, smoked, special cuts and hard-to-find items.
Harold's Meat Market began as C. C. McAllister's Store, which was the first grocery store/gas station in the Garden City area of Jacksonville, back when Lem Turner was a brick road. Harold Goode purchased the store in 1965 and established a family run business there. The store moved across the street to the NE corner of Lem Turner Road and Dunn Avenue, and since the exceptional quality of the meats and the first-rate customer service remained the same, the customers moved with it. Then the store experienced a devastating fire in 1982. The decision to rebuild resulted in a bigger and better store to serve the community.
Harold's son, Richard, took over the management of the store in the late 90's, following in his dad's footsteps. This store has experienced many changes, evolutions, reinventions of itself over the many years of its life, but the things that have remained constant are the superior quality of the meat they offer and the personal attention each customer receives. Those hard-to-find cuts of meat, custom meat cutting, and their wide variety of seafood have kept customers returning and returning year after year." - Harold's Meat Market
