Go Skateboarding Day was established in 2004 by the International Association of Skateboarding Companies. It celebrates the exhilaration, creativity and spirit of one of the most influential activities in the world. The Summer Solstice, June 21st, marks this annual homage to drop everything and go skateboarding. For the past three years the City of Jacksonville has embraced this holiday by proclaiming skateboarding to be 100% legal throughout downtown for this one day of the year. Since this year’s event is on a Saturday, extra activities and events are packed into an all-day skateboarding festival. And it’s all free to the public!
