Urban Living in Jacksonville: Springfield

A look at Jacksonville's Springfield Historic District through the eyes of Metro Jacksonville's Daniel Herbin.

Established in 1869, Springfield is a historic neighborhood that is located just north of downtown Jacksonville. It experienced its greatest growth from the early 1880s through the 1920s. The 119-block neighborhood contains some of the city's best examples of 19th and early 20th century architecture. The Springfield Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 22, 1987.
