Photographing Jacksonville: Five Points

Take a trip with Metrojacksonville's Lauren Parker and Andrew Smith through Five Points. A place filled with local artists and musicians, Five Points is a great place to find something unexpected.
One of Jacksonville's areas for cultural gatherings, between art, food and music, Five Points is one of the best places to find Jacksonville's Bohemian spirit. This area has a great mixture of local artists and shop owners who not only give their own flavor to the area but also take part in displaying local art in their own shops and restaurants. If you ever find yourself wondering where to go, be sure to check out the Sun Ray Cinema, Tapa That, Birdies and Rain Dogs.

Located on Park Street, in the Historic Riverside Avondale area, Five Points is the epicenter for a good night out and a showcase for Jacksonville's artists. With murals inside and outside of the buildings, the restaurants and shops give off that urban feel to add to the Riverside culture.

Inside Rain Dogs

The inside of this bathroom is papered with old music sheets and empty picture frames. Why put up a painting when the whole wall is art?

The other bathroom is wallpapered with old stories along with empty picture frames

In the back of the bar just past the bathrooms is the backroom. Inside is another room with a stage for music acts and shows, and also art showcases.

Tapa That

Inside by the door you will find this counter where local businesses and artists leave their cards. Anyone wishing to display their work and leave their cards can stop by and speak with the owner.

And lastly, some of the beautiful murals outside
