New York Steam Laundry Development Project Renderings
Metro Jacksonville shares the conceptual plans of L.B. Jax Development LLC.'s latest downtown Jacksonville project: The redevelopment of 120 West Forsyth Street.
For decades, 120 East Forsyth Street was known as the Old Republic Title Building. Now L.B. Jax Development, LLC., the developer who converted the W.A. Knight Building into loft apartments, is preparing to redevelop the 111-year-old property.
As a part of their plans to transform the 11,000 square foot structure into a restaurant and office space, L.B. Jax Development is proposing a variety of renovations that include interior first and second floor modifications as well façade improvements that modify the existing storefront facing the East Forsyth Street frontage into a design that hasn't been seen since the building's early 20th century days as the New York Steam Laundry Company.
The first floor will be house an upscale restaurant with a sidewalk café. The second floor will be utilized as office space. Although not fully committed, L.B. Jax Development is also considering adding a rooftop bar. Construction on the $2 million renovation project is anticipated to start in early March after the Old Republic National Title Insurance Company moves out of the building this month. Completion could be as early as October 2014.
