The Coolest Ride In Riverside

This weekend marks the second half of the Riverside Avondale Night Trolley's trial run ferrying passengers throughout Riverside and Avondale on the first Friday and Saturday of the month from 6pm to 2am. Today marks a crossroads that will determine this viability of this service continuing past the trial period.

The cost is $1.50 for a single ride or $4 for a day pass. Passengers should be prepared to pay exact cash fare of $1.50 each way (operators do not carry change), or simply tap your STAR card for payment. $4 day pass STAR cards that allow for unlimited trolley rides can be purchased at Grassroots Natural Market, Let Them Eat Cake, Open Road Bicycles, European Street Café, Intuition Ale Works and Bold City Brewery.

The Night Trolley stops throughout the neighborhood's residential and commercial districts, including 5 Points, Park & King, the Shoppes of Avondale, the Brewery District, Stockton & College, and the St Johns Village area. The trolley picks up riders everywhere you see a Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) sign posted in the neighborhood along the below route.

In order to make the service convenient for choice riders, users can access a route map and track trolley locations in real time via a mobile device by visiting trolley.jaxmob.com. This is the first time in Jacksonville that riders will have access to real time bus locations, eliminating the stress of worrying about missed busses.

The service was created on the basis of a new model of community engagement whereas the Jacksonville Transportation Authority partnered with neighborhood residents and advocates. In order to prove successful, the service must establish a sustainable ridership base.

Neighborhood residents and advocates have partnered with the Jacksonville Transportation Authority in a unique partnership. In order for this model of community engagement to be expanded throughout the community, the Riverside Avondale Night Trolley needs your help. Hop on the trolley this weekend and experience how convenient and reliable transportation alternatives can positively shape our community's future.
