A Different Era: Downtown Jacksonville

Metro Jacksonville shares sights and scenes of downtown Jacksonville taken during the early 20th century.

1. Bay Street, looking west towards Main Street.  The six-story Dyal-Upchurch building can be seen on the left.



2. Main Street, looking north towards Springfield, between Confederate and Waterworks Parks.



3. The U.S. Post Office building at the intersection of Forsyth and Hogan Streets.





4. Forsyth at Laura Street.  The Mercantile Exchange Bank eventually was expanded and is now known as the Laura Trio's Marble Bank.

6. Hemming Plaza.  The Windsor Hotel in the background is now the site of the federal courthouse.




7. The intersection of Bay and Main Streets.  The entire block on the left is now the Wells Fargo Center.
