The Florida Department of Transportation wants to replace the Sisters Creek Bridge with a new $52.6 million dollar bridge.

The FDOT wants to replace the drawbridge, with a new high-level bridge just north of the existing structure, the Daily Record reports.

“The Sisters Creek Bridge has been classified as structurally deficient, which means the FDOT has to replace or repair it within a reasonable period of time,” said Mike Goldman, FDOT spokesman.

The bridge is on Heckscher Drive and crosses over the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

Construction is schedule for fiscal 2015-2016, but that could be fast tracked and start in the summer of 2013.
