Lacey B Designs

by Lacey Berry

Aesthetic
Lacey B is a fun, classic take on geometric shapes and bold colors, offering an exotic mix of textures through the use of ribbon and beading.

Clean, yet unique- chic, but eye catching. Lacey B, offers pieces that can make a quick translation from day to night, at the whim of the wearer. The pieces are smart and enigmatic, drawing inspiration from different time periods and places around the world.

The Lacey B muse is not a girl who’s after one thing. She is after all things. She appreciates the mix of night and day, city and country, old and new. She would just as soon wear strappy flats as she would a heightened heel. She chooses to mold the things around her as she sees fit, accommodating her want for excitement and variety, and is unapologetic. She is smart, confident and finds joy in life, whether it comes from an exciting purchase at the flea market, to an extravagant meal. She happily experiences the world around her, subtly but undoubtedly leaving her mark on all she encounters.

Quick Bio
Lacey Berry is an interesting person who according to Elements Magazine was born with  Ӆ a red afro and a love of painting. The Afro has since diminished, but [her] love of art has not.”She got her start at the age of 15 when she was still in school and had to be creative to circumvent the school’s strict dress codes. It is then of no surprise to learn that Berry is a trained graphic designer.  She enjoys making her own designs and styling all her models to reflect an air or possibility and wonder.  She currently makes unrestrictedly stunning jewelry that begs to be worn day or night. You can visit Berry’s website for up-to-date images of her work and other fun facts about her design aesthetic.

Mel Boteri

by Melanie Mueller

Aesthetic
Founder and Creative Director, Melanie Mueller, took her love for fashion, a business background, and her personal shopping frustrations to create Mel Boteri, a business dedicated to custom, luxury accessories for both men and women.

“In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different,” Coco Chanel. In a marketplace oversaturated with one-size-fits-all merchandise, the above quote by the late fashion icon is true now more than ever. For the trendsetting man or woman with discerning taste, Mel Boteri offers you the opportunity to create one-of-a-kind, luxury accessories as irreplaceable as you. Premium European components along with you as co-designer will create an essential touch of glamour to your everyday, and an iconic piece of luxury you will pass down for years to come.

Mel Boteri has been notably featured in The Atlantan, British Vogue, Jezebel Magazine, and E!’s Fashion Police.  Celebrity fans include LisaRaye McCoy and Destiny Child’s Kelly Rowland.

Quick Bio
It is hard to picture a cut-and-dry numbers kind of gal working her way up the fashion industry but that is exactly who Melanie Mueller is.  She tells her story in an illustrated interview and we find out she was actually in banking before going to Emory University and receiving her MBA.  It may sound like this part of her life is not so important but in all reality her love for business administration coupled with a desire to manage her own led to her finding out how much fashion could bring her two desires into being.

The concept for fashion started from a marketing professor’s startup for men’s custom shoes.  At first Mueller was not going for it but eventually she realized there was a gap in the market for any type of custom fashion.  “ I personally struggled to find exclusive, yet sophisticated pieces which would meet my individual needs, I found that I was not alone in my efforts,” comments Mueller on her website.
She went on to work as a Marketing and Business Development intern for Zac Posen, a world renowned designer in New York City. With this experience at hand Mueller soon went on to open Mel Boteri, which officially launched in the Fall of 2009 with a small collection of women’s custom design handbags, on the premise of providing an unmatched one-of-a-kind shopping experience. We can now find Mueller hard at work on her website and if you want more up-to-date information on her whereabouts in life you can visit her twitter feed, also on her website.

Quick Bio
In Spring 2010 a soon to be Mother of three, Brittany Alphonso, decided to pursue her dream.  But before that we find that Alphonso, “ … began sewing when [she] was a child, mostly costumes and play clothes.”  She goes on to comment that becoming a stay-at-home mom actually perfected her techniques.  Now Alphonso asserts that she is “happy that she can pursue [her] passion for designing custom clothes for children.”  She firmly believes everyone should find that one talent that truly makes them happy.  The rest is history, as they say. Combining her love of Motherhood, skilled fashion sense and a mean craving Banana Bread Baby was born. St. Augustine native, Alphonso signed on as a vendor at local markets to initiate her grass roots approach to starting a children’s clothing company. Becoming quite a hit at the markets, Alphonso decided to open and online store that allows the customer to work one on one with the designer to create a one of a kind outfit for their child. Alphonso finds pride in designing and producing all of her own creations.

You can find the latest updates on Alphonso and her brand in her website’s events page and if you are hungry for more you should try out her famous banana bread recipe, which is a play of words on her fashion brand; but certainly looks tastier than fashion in general ever could.
