Suburban Jacksonville: Deerwood Center

Baymeadow's Deerwood Center is home to several employers and educational facilities, making it the envy of many downtown Jacksonville advocates. After three decades of being in existance, the development's mature tree canopy, lakes and mix of uses combine to provide it with a different vibe from many of Jacksonville's suburban office parks.
Deerwood Center is home to some of the region's largest employers, making it a major employment center and anchor of Jacksonville's Baymeadows neighborhood.  Deerwood Center is served by two major north-south thoroughfares, Baymeadows Way and Bayberry Road.

Located to the east, Baymeadows Way serves many of the Baymeadows area's major corporate offices and manufacturing centers.

What is a Charter School?

Charter schools are tuition-free public schools of choice, but each charter school is governed independently. Unlike traditional public schools, every charter school must demonstrate success, or it will lose its charter.

The Duval Charter School at Baymeadows is a member of the Charter Schools USA family of schools. CSUSA is one of the largest providers of charter school management services in the nation. CSUSA manages private and municipal charters for grades Pre-K through 12.

Bayberry Road



Paralleling Baymeadows Way to the west, Bayberry Road is dominanted by flexible warehouse and distribution facilities.




Although headquartered in downtown, Jacksonville-based Stein Mart's distribution center is located in Deerwood Center.  Stein Mart was founded in 1908 by Sam Stein, a Russian immigrant who opened his first store in Greenville, MS.  Today, Stein Mart has grown to include over 260 stores in 30 states.




Pella, IA-based Pella Company is a privately held window and door manufacturing company with manufacturing operations across the United States.  Pella is one of the many companies that take advantage of distribution facilities in Deerwood Center.





Spring Lake



Spring Lake serves as the centerpiece of Deerwood Center.  Here, a mix of office, manufacturing, and educational uses are directly connected by a pedestrian walkway and boardwalk system.


Advanced Disposal's corporate office is located in Deerwood Center.  Advanced Disposal is a full-service environmental services company providing collection, transfer, disposal and recycling operations to more than 48,000 commercial customers and 775,000 residential customers throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina.










Now a subsidiary of GE Engine Services, Inc., Unison Industries is involved in the design, manufacture, and integration of electrical and mechanical components and systems for aircraft engines and airframes.

The student body continues to grow and new academic programs and degrees have been added.

The curriculum for each program of study at The Art Institute of Jacksonville, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design, is carefully scrutinized. Coursework is reviewed and influenced by industry leaders and prominent employers who determine what skills are needed in the workplace. Classes are sized to allow for individual attention and academic advisors work closely with students to enable successful academic progress. Most of the University’s faculty also are working in their respective fields outside of the classroom.

Programs at The Art Institute of Jacksonville, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design, are designed to help develop creativity and to make each student marketable to employers after graduation. Students receive assistance with career planning from their entry through graduation, and beyond. The Career Services Department is designed to encourage the successful entry into each graduate’s chosen field. In addition, students are encouraged to enter work in competitions, volunteer time on extra curricular projects related to their fields of study, and attend seminars, workshops and networking events.

Florida Coastal School of Law is a private law school in Jacksonville, Florida. Established in 1996, the school is owned by the for-profit educational investment fund InfiLaw. Florida Coastal School of Law received its license from the state of Florida in 1995 and opened for classes in winter 1996. The class entering in 1996 graduated in spring 1999. The college was provisionally approved by the American Bar Association in 1999 and received its full accreditation in 2002.











Deerwood Center straddles the west side of Interstate 95 between Butler Boulevard and Baymeadows Road.
