MOSH: LEGO DUPLO Read! Build! Play! Tour

Museum of Science and History has a LEGO event scheduled for August 26, 2012.
Each January, MOSH hosts the LEGO Building Competition.  The event has sold out each of the three years it’s been held. While the competition will be back in January 2013, we have a fun program to offer in the interim.

This Sunday, August 26, the national LEGO DUPLO Read! Build! Play! tour will make a stop at MOSH. Visitors can join “LEGO Play masters” for fun building sessions, games and story times from noon to 5 p.m. While the event is tailored for children under five, all ages are welcome to participate.

As parents already know, LEGOs provide hours of hands-on entertainment and education.  In addition to learning hand-eye coordination, children can learn their colors and shapes and the basics of problem solving.  The Read! Build! Play! experience demonstrates how reading coupled with construction play can engage, excite and encourage early literacy development, and spark exploration. Families are introduced to new ideas to encourage play and learning at home. And, kids will be inspired by the larger-than-life LEGO DUPLO book at the event!

The Read! Build! Play! program is a partnership between LEGO DUPLO and the Association of Library Services to Children to bring a fun and interactive play time to children all across the country.

Read! Build! Play! is included with Museum admission which is $10 for adults and $8 for active and retired military, seniors and children 3-12.  There is no admission fee for children 2 and under or MOSH members.

So, visit MOSH this Sunday for a fun LEGO experience.  It may just give your child the added experience to take home the top prize in MOSH’s LEGO Competition in January.
