Tapestry Park II Hotel, LLC has executed a license agreement with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. to build and operate a 137-room Aloft hotel. The Aloft Jacksonville-Tapestry Park hotel will be located in Tapestry Park, a prominent mixed-use development situated at the intersection of Southside Boulevard and Gate Parkway in Jacksonville, Fla. Gatehouse Capital Corp. will develop the project and expects to begin construction by the end of this year with an opening slated for 2011. Construction of the new Aloft building is anticipated to be designed to meet an extensive set of criteria outlined by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. The project will utilize water-saving and energy-efficient technologies with building materials and finishes containing high percentages of recycled content and low VOCs.

Aloft Jacksonville-Tapestry Park will feature approximately 3,600 square feet of meeting space to accommodate guests. The meeting space will be housed in an attached annex building and will be divisible into three smaller, 1,200-square-foot spaces. The hotel will be operated under Starwood Hotel’s Aloft brand, which caters to a global audience of forward-looking consumers seeking a new and unique alternative in the select service market. Tapestry Park is part of the greater Deerwood Park submarket that includes more than 10 million square feet of office space located approximately nine miles southeast of downtown Jacksonville. Deerwood’s office tenants include a multitude of multinational corporations including Merrill Lynch and one of Florida’s largest employers, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida. Tapestry Park is also home to a new III Forks Steakhouse, which opened in November and boasts more than 9,000 square feet of dining accommodations including private dining rooms and a 6,000-bottle wine cellar.
