Northbank Riverwalk Reopens for 2008

Exactly one year ago we reported that the Northbank Riveralk had partially collapsed. It remained closed throughout 2007, but now it has reopened to the public.

The City of Jacksonville temporarily stabilized the riverwalk in front of the Hyatt with large I-beams. Unfortunately the beams blocked the riverwalk from being used by the public.

The planters that held large palm trees have been removed to reduce the weight on the structure.

Although the planters are gone, it is easy to spot where they were located.

We are glad to see the Riverwalk reopened and actively being used. Hopefully it will not experience any more structural problems and can remain open for all of 2008.
