Update from the Convention Center Task Force

The latest white paper report by the JCCI Convention Center Task Force has been released and so far the recommendations fall in line with what Metro Jacksonville has been saying for over a year.

 

Our downtown already has the complementing infrastructure in place.  However, it's not in LaVilla and it won't be there anytime soon, no matter how many master plans and task forces are put together. Metro Jacksonville's solution to the convention center problem is a three part task that will require different public agencies to plan together.

1. Construct a new county courthouse on seven block moonscape.

2. Construct a new mixed use vertical convention center complex on old courthouse site.

3. Convert the Prime Osborn into the Jacksonville Transportation Center.

It should be interesting to see how the task force's work plays out.
