Checking in on Peyton's Progress

Just a quick editorial today...I wanted to give an update on how we think Peyton is doing thus far. There have been many things that COULD define Peyton's tenure so far, but here are the 4 big ones we see framing his work up to this point.

1 - The Courthouse...almost double the cost, half the functionality and seven blocks of city land.  And, did we forget to mention that the current courthouse will continue to occupy prime riverfront land for the next 20 years?

2 - Sleiman deal...Peyton leading the City on the most prominent example of the City trying to halt development downtown.

 3 - The Budget -- F.F.F. - Failed Fiscal Frontman - Our illustrious leader has taken our city funds from a  budget surplus when he took office to a $30,000,000.00 budget deficit.

 4- The Children's Book Club - 20 years from now, a lot of grown adults, scattered throughout the world, will be able to say, "I read a book with Mayor Peyton of Jacksonville, Florida when I was a kid".
